Jobs for June

(Summer is here)

June is the month when all the summer flowers make their first appearance and scented roses are definitely at the forefront of all of them. Perennials and shrubs cover the ground and hopefully drown out the weeds, the growth of the lawn slows as the weather gets hotter and the patio containers begin to flourish with colour.

Ten Top Tips for June

1. Feed the lawn with a liquid lawn feed to give it a quick 'green up'

2. Mow the grass regularly

3. Water and feed containers and hanging baskets to get them established and growing well

4. Water and deadhead plants regularly

5.Remove perennial weeds as they appear

6 Prune clematis and other climbers if necessary

7 Dig up Tulip and Hyacinth bulbs when foliage dies off and store in a cool dark shed ready to replant in the Autumn

8 Plant out your summer bedding plants maybe lilies and cannas that were potted up earlier in the season?

9 Harvest Asparagus before the middle of the month

10 Plant out peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, melons and aubergines in tubs on the patio.

Above all take time to enjoy the fruits of your labour.....
